Preserving the Legacy of Bloubergstrand
Originally built in the early 1900s, Ons Huisie started as a small beach cottage, offering shelter and a sense of home to locals and visitors seeking solace by the sea. Over time, this humble abode transformed into a renowned restaurant with a special place in the heart of Bloubergstrand.

The Stadler Family
Frederick Louis Stadler, the original owner of Ons Huisie, acquired vast stretches of land after the Battle of Blouberg in 1806, becoming deeply intertwined with the development of Bloubergstrand. Although the exact building date remains unknown, a beautiful pencil drawing by Thomas Bowler from 1853 immortalizes an earlier version of the house.
The Stadler family’s descendants, including Frikkie, Rozier, and Johannes, played a vital role in establishing Bloubergstrand as we know it today. True fishermen at heart, they put the village on the map, fostering a legacy that continues to thrive.
The Boonzaaier family
The Boonzaaier family, another integral part of Bloubergstrand’s history, left an indelible mark on the community. Known for their warm hospitality and entrepreneurial spirit, Johannes and Maria Boonzaaier were pillars of support, shaping the growth and development of the area.
